Tagup Joins NYC Accelerator Service Provider Program

We are excited to announce Tagup has been accepted into the NYC Accelerator Service Provider Program. Joining the NYC Accelerator Service Provider Program underscores our commitment to helping New York City achieve its decarbonization goals and build cleaner, healthier, and more resilient communities. This partnership makes our AI-powered HVAC optimization technology available through a city-sponsored program to help building owners and operators achieve their energy efficiency and sustainability goals.

What is the NYC Accelerator Program?

New York City has committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 80% by 2050. The largest source of the city’s GHG emissions are its buildings, which account for nearly 70% of the city’s total emissions. NYC Accelerator is a program sponsored by the NYC Mayor’s Office of Climate & Environmental Justice that is designed to help building owners and operators get on a pathway to decarbonizing the city while building healthier, safer communities.

NYC Accelerator provides resources and guidance to help building owners and operators improve energy efficiency, reduce GHG emissions, and comply with local regulations such as Local Law 97. Services and resources include one-on-one expert guidance, technical assistance, financing opportunities, online and in-person training, and referrals to service providers. All service providers in the program have been vetted by NYC Accelerator, and the program connects building owners and operators with qualified service providers to help advance their energy and sustainability goals. Buildings eligible for the program include any new construction project and existing buildings larger than 5,000 square feet. Since 2015, NYC Accelerator has helped over 9,000 buildings improve energy performance and savings.

How Tagup's Collaboration with NYC Accelerator Promotes a Sustainable NYC

HVAC systems account for a significant portion of energy use in buildings, more than half for commercial buildings, making improvements in HVAC efficiency crucial to reducing GHG emissions. Upgrading or replacing HVAC systems can be costly and disruptive, posing challenges for building owners and operators.

Tagup’s HVAC optimization software optimizes and automates building controls with artificial intelligence (AI) to reduce building system operating costs and associated emissions without sacrificing tenant comfort. Our platform uses machine learning to dynamically and continuously adjust control settings in response to utility rates, weather conditions, and how each component of the HVAC system is performing in real-time. By continually optimizing setpoints, HVAC systems run at peak efficiency, resulting in up to a 30% decrease in energy consumption, GHG emissions, and operating costs. Because our platform is compatible with new and existing HVAC systems alike, the technology allows building owners and operators to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions without the need for costly equipment upgrades or replacements.

By optimizing setpoint controls of HVAC systems, our platform directly addresses a key source of New York City’s GHG emissions, supporting NYC Accelerator’s objective to reduce emissions and build a healthier and greener city. Already operational in New York City, we are proud to partner with NYC Accelerator to further support the city’s five boroughs.
